John Grisham is an American novelist, attorney, politician, and activist best known for his popular legal thrillers. His books have been translated into 42 languages and published worldwide.

Grisham graduated from Mississippi State University before attending the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1981. He practiced criminal law for about a decade and served in the House of Representatives in Mississippi from January 1984 to September 1990

Grisham's career started about the same time as Stephen King, and both of them were helped when their early books were made into movies. Carrie with King and The Firm with Grisham. They have been friends and spoken together at times where they have given some credit to how the film made them better known. The genre of John Grisham is something he has perfected. A genre is a category of artistic composition characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter, and Grisham's is very familiar, and even addictive, to those of us that have read many of his books.
