How many days does "now" include? Can we really know where we are if we don't know where we have been? Today just doesn't stand alone. Today impacts tomorrow. So what day really matters most? The question brings me to considering a thought of T.S. Elliot.
“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.”
I loved this thought even before I had any understanding of what it might mean. It just drew me in and I felt it was important.
I think our life will seem very different when we reach the end and look back. Last week looks different looking back? Maybe this week will look different when it is over.
All that we have explored, learned, and done, has changed us. We are different this week than last. We will see the whole of it very differently than we did as we experienced the parts.
The beginning, all of the related circumstances of that beginning, and then what followed will be clear, for the first time at the end.
When we know the place for the first time, we will be a new person seeing with new eyes.
