Kissinger doesn't belong in an article on master speakers. →

I wrote a short article, “Listening to and Evaluating a Master Communicator.” It is posted in this website’s “My Books” section under Mastering The Art Of Communication: The Power of Precision In Language. The article addressed some reasons for the book that had been omitted from Chapter One.

The problem was that, in theory, Stephen R. Covey and Henry Kissinger are perfect examples of awful and greatness in speakers. My problem is that just recalling my Kissinger experience is just too upsetting.

"AI", intelligence, sometimes disappoints, but change is coming fast

The AI created this not-so-intriguing picture above. It was tasked with creating the mountain scene and using the chosen colors. How do you think it fared?

The young fellow is telling us AI created the picture.

This picture is unremarkable. The following quote prompts us to consider whether the picture enhances this human’s intelligence in any way. My response is a resounding no.

AI created the picture; overall, I think it is a “ho-hum” picture. The quote below suggests asking whether the picture amplifies this human’s intelligence. The answer is no; it doesn’t seem like it.

“Artificial intelligence is not a substitute for human intelligence; it is a tool to amplify human creativity and ingenuity. It is likely to open up new possibilities for artistic expression.

The importance of hand-to-hand combat in major militaries has declined since World War II. This is due to the development of advanced weapons, such as drones, and a focus on other combat techniques.

Vietnam, in many ways, is an example of this. The war's goal was not geographical; instead, it was simply “body count.” The focus was on the number of dead bodies. Often faces were not always seen.

Bombs and even infantry fire were focused on where the enemy might be.

The United States dropped 8 million tons of bombs on Indochina between 1962 and 1973, compared with a total of around 4 million tons dropped by all the warring nations in the Second World War.

Sometimes Your Message Just Doesn't Connect →

The message needs to be useful to the audience. Timing is important. Sometimes, how you dress influences the message, and sometimes, the scenery matters.

Nonsense could depend on the audience. You might suspect that this picture implies that there is no audience. On the other hand, you are now the audience. Ok, you’re saying, yes, maybe, but this message was written before you came to it and became the audience.

Another thought would be that making sense is the burden of the author, not the reader. Makes sense to me!

Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches →

The Oxford Dictionary defines 'Nonsense' as ideas, statements, or beliefs that one might consider silly and untrue. This definition suggests that 'nonsense' is a subjective concept that varies from person to person and may not be fully captured by a dictionary's definition.

Checking out two people, we assume that person #1 likes this sandwich, but for person #2, the Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich seems less desirable and not worth trying.

Some folks, in this case person #2, may go so far as to say, “No, I don’t want to; that is just nonsense.” Others may approach the decision differently, saying, “No thanks, that is just something I have no interest in.”

Did this hypothetical person number two ever try the several options of this sandwich?

Options?

1. Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich

2. Toasted Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich

3. Cross-sliced or sliced the long way banana slices

4. Peanut Butter on one bread slice and Jelly on the other slice with banana slices between them.

5. Options 1,2,3, or 4 using mashed bananas

6. Adding Cinanmon to any option

7. Adding Bacon to any option

The Oxford Dictionary suggests it only needs to be silly or untrue to be nonsense. Does that mean that any untrue suggestion underscores the subjective nature of 'nonsense,' highlighting that it's a concept that varies from person to person and may not be fully encapsulated by a dictionary's definition? It's a reminder to pause and reflect on our perceptions and judgments. For this sandwich, is it nonsense or perhaps silly for some?
