Authentic creativity is about expressing your genuine self through creative endeavors, driven by your purpose and values. It involves aligning your creative work with your core beliefs and personal truths, creating a profound sense of fulfillment and a deeper connection to your creative practic, leaving you with a deep sense of satisfaction and contentment.

When you create authentically, your work can connect with others on a deeper level, reflecting your genuine self and personal truths and fostering a strong sense of connection and engagement.

Authentic creativity is rooted in a deeper understanding of your values and what truly matters to you. It involves expressing your genuine voice and perspective, rather than trying to conform to external expectations or trends. It is about expressing your own unique perspective and experiences, which not only resonates with others on a deeper level but also empowers you, makings you feel valued and significant.

Where do those new thoughts come from, and how did they get in your head? Sometimes you find these new thoughts as a result of a search but sometimes they seem to pop into your head.

The point of a search is to find something new and unique. Motivation is the process that initiates and guides the search. Reading is an excellent way to search for new thoughts.

Inspiration is a feeling of enthusiasm from someone or something that gives you new and creative ideas. Inspiration lets you know you have found what you need in your search.

Inspiration is helpful for creative projects and helps us find motivation and focus daily. An inspiring source allows you to stay energized and productive throughout the day. Learn how to discover and maintain your sources of inspiration through open-mindedness.

It takes an open mind to be receptive to inspiration and creative focus.

Toys Can Help Teach Creativity →

November 8, 2023 Brent Jones

You can develop creativity by experimenting, exploring, questioning assumptions, using imagination, and processing information. Creativity is similar to learning a sport; it requires practice and a supportive environment to thrive.

For infants and young children, the brain's elasticity and rapid neural formation make learning languages and developing creative ideas easier. Elasticity is the brain's capability to re-route or re-wire to enhance thinking. Some individuals possess a "Creative Eye," which means that when they see something, they are motivated to create a version of it or think of how to use it.

Toys are often used to replicate real-life events.

Creativity can be taught, and toys can greatly aid young children. For instance, consider an 8-year-old boy who receives a small Lionel train set. Do they associate their thoughts about the train set with the actual trains in the countryside or on road trips with their parents? Do they envision a train station, bridges, tunnels, and terrain that could be built around the train tracks? Do they have relatives or neighbors who may have worked on trains and could give input on the new Lionel train set layout? The right gifts and toys can open doors to creativity, but is more required to mentor a young child to think of options and come up with ideas?

Understanding the broader purposes of toys can make a difference in working with children. Is it such a big step from creating a train station as a youngster to understanding graphic design and layout? Sometimes, lifelong passions such as trains come from commitments made by mentors.

Does Music inspire Creativity or does Creativity inspire Music? →

March 27, 2022 Brent Jones

The answer to this question is:

Yes, music inspires creativity, and creativity inspires music.

Billy Joel’s song, River of Dreams, is creative and encourages; however, I don’t recall a saxophone.

The music, including the words to the song, can lead to a unique life view and even a philosophy. The philosophy comes from searching for the right words to connect to the music.

The music mixed with the lyrics speaks to the brain through cognitive narratology. This can set in motion other thoughts and memories and spark creativity.

The saxophone is an instrument, like the piano, that responds to searching for answers. However, understanding the answers to these deep questions requires one to celebrate those answers with music; when saxophones are part of the music, the experience is enriched.

10 Reasons to Play the Saxophone

  • Expressing your creativity. ...

  • There's a Saxophone to suit everyone! ...

  • Music helps you academically. ...

  • It is SO friendly. ...

  • It teaches you patience and perseverance. ...

  • You can “switch off” ...

  • Improves your memory. ...

  • You will have a skill for life.

Teach your kids creativity with their toy choices, projects and how they spend their time →

Creativity can be taught, and the toys kids get when their young can be a big help. Consider the 8-year-old boy who gets the small Lionel train set. Do they connect their thoughts about the train set with the real-life trains in the countryside or on road trips with parents? Do they see a train station, bridges, tunnels, and terrain that could be built around the train tracks? Do they have relatives or neighbors who may have worked on trains and could see the new Lionel train set layout and make comments and suggestions?

A gift can open doors to creativity but isn’t more required in mentoring a young child to think of options and get ideas? Is it such a big step from laying out a train station as a young person to understanding graphic design and layout?

Sometimes a lifelong passion for trains is sparked by the toy train set, and sometimes the trains seen in the world around us spark the interest in the toy train set.

Where is creativity best served? Assuming creativity is just a spark that lights itself are a mistake. Learning how to light that spark in others is part of what parents and friends can teach others as early as with their first toys. Finding out how to light a spark in yourself can be learned.
