Perhaps the Symbol is One of "Irony" Because It Doesn't Answer the Question

The Symbolic Man is Expanding or Falling Apart

Irony is a powerful literary device that can be used in various ways. Whether to create humor or emphasize an irrationality, irony draws attention by presenting an opposite meaning to the words used.

This creates an incongruity between what is expected and presented, creating a sense of irony. As a figure of speech, irony is the intended meaning that opposes the literal meaning of the words expressed.

A picture, for example, canpowerfully illustrate ironyy. By presenting an image that is both falling apart and coming together, it draws attention to the fact that we are not sure which outcome is being suggested - making it all the more ironic. By understanding the subject matterpresented, we can fully appreciate the intended irony and its messages.
