Gone are the days of simply submitting a resume to a company and waiting for an interview. Technology, remote work, and social media have created more options for employers and employees. Searching for and landing a job is a whole new experience. The author is very knowledgeable about the job market and how to navigate it. He provides efficient information, from optimizing your LinkedIn profile and network to handling a job loss and assessing your hard and soft skills. Studies and research also support the invaluable advice and information provided in the book. It is well-written and easy to read. It makes for a quick read as well.

You may not be looking for a new job, but odds are you will at some point in your career. This book is a great place to start to help you navigate the new world of job searching. It is probably one of the most valuable and helpful books I’ve read. Every young person just leaving college or high school and preparing to enter the workforce should read this book. It is also great for those of us who have been in the force but are preparing for a career change, especially if we have been in our current positions for a while. The job market is much different than it was ten years ago when I was looking for my first post-college job. Grab this book! It is so helpful and might help you land your dream job.

While the focus of this book is finding your authentic self, I loved that Jones also includes things like the importance of networking and informational interviews. It is a well-rounded approach to finding yourself and landing the job that you not only want but is the best for you as well. It is well-written and easy to understand. The information within The Human Factor is priceless and even if you aren’t looking for a job right now, it will serve you well in the future when it is time to look for a new job. Make sure you have this one in your arsenal!

Jones’s writing is fantastic. It is so easy to read. He does a fantastic job explaining things and providing relatable examples. Every college or high school grad looking to enter the workforce must read this book. Learning to network appropriately will give them a leg up in the job market.
