Kids hearts have their reasons, which reason knows nothing about.
Brent Jones
Kindness is not an intellectual decision but one that the heart makes without motive. This observation is illustrated by a quote from Blaise Pascal, a French Religious Philosopher, who said:
“The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing.”
Kids are an excellent example of this. They seem to know whether they like you or sense you don't like them. Their hearts are so sensitive, perhaps because they are really without guile.
My son was an excellent example of this. At a very young age, we were often surprised when he would tell us or show us that some new person, usually an adult with whom we had a good relationship, was someone he didn't like. In some cases, it was many years later that we saw that same person differently and just realized that our son was right.
It is a joy to be with young children who are without guile and respond to their hearts. I love being with these kids.
