The Best Version of Ourselves is the Authentic Version

The best version of ourselves is the authentic version. That means that who we are reflects our personality, values, and spirit. A person's spirit is more about their essence and deeper motivations, while personality is about observable traits and behaviors. The problem is that our ability to communicate and interact with others is negatively impacted when we are not authentic. However, identifying why we would choose not to be authentic can be challenging.

A person who feels that they have no personality of value might have low self-worth. We tend to think that our rational mind determines what we feel. However, it is the other way around. Our emotions, especially the negative ones, affect our capacity to be logical about how we think.

One solution to believing one’s personality is not valuable is to mirror someone else’s personality. "Mirroring others' personalities" means subconsciously imitating another person's behavior, mannerisms, speech patterns, or attitude, essentially acting like a reflection of them. This is often done to build rapport or connect with someone on a deeper level, usually without realizing it's happening.
