Destroying culture by burning books and “dumming down” the ones that are left!
Brent Jones
“You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. You have to get people to stop reading them” by Ray Bradbury.
Another way to look at this is the same thing happens if you take the content of books and dumb it down. The excuse for doing this is to lower the difficulty level, but it also reduces intellectual content.
The challenge is who is qualified to change the genre and still make the focus of reading matter?
Rather than lowering the difficulty rate, the goal should raise the reader’s ability to see past the problem to the real meanings conveyed.
