# Tuesday is March 14th is Pie Day

## The reason is that the 14th is the only day in the year with the same numbers as the math's Pie "3.14"

### So take a pie to work, or bring one home that day. That can be a creative approach to March 14th. I am aware of one group that is meeting in the evening for a pie day event. To celebrate the day I have listed some facts to ponder below.

### Pies are in a sphere shape. To measure the surface area of a sphere you can use the math pie to help. The formula is:** 4 pi r 2 .** (4 times pie R squared)

**4 pi r 2 .**

### Ok, you probably don't care about the math. I understand. Even so math reminds us of Einstein doesn't it? So with that in mind I will offer some Einstein trivia below.

**Was Einstein good at math?**

Apparently he was rumored to be poor at math, but it just wasn't true. He was good at it. I don't know if he liked Pie however? The quotes below were his.

### "Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas."

### "Not everything that counts can be counted. Not everything that can be counted counts."

### "A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be."

### "So far as the theories of mathematics are about reality, they are not certain; so far as they are certain, they are not about reality."

### "Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them."

### "Since the mathematicians have invaded the theory of relativity, I do not understand it myself any more."

### "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

### "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new."
